PETIT JEAN STATE PARK ~ ARKANSAS

Petit Jean State Park

Wow and breathtaking are two words I use to describe this place. Even though it was hot outside, Richard and I enjoyed our stroll, watching the majestic eagles soar high above, smelling the clean fresh air. The excursion began with a stop at the grave of Petit Jean and the overlook, and a beautiful view of the Arkansas River (and it even had a huge barge slowly moving upstream).

If you magnify the last picture, you'll see the black dot in the cloud is an eagle I tried to capture, but he's farther away than I imagined. I'm gonna have to invest in a better camera if I want to hone in on things like this!

Then we visited the Old Car Museum. I'll tell you this really brought back some memories. Most of those cars we saw were ones we remembered as kids; some were like the ones our families owned at some time or another.

This 1958 Corvette was a gem! It's 40 years older than ours.

After perusing around in the heat, it was time to get something to eat, so off we went to Mather Lodge. The view from here was awesome. Oh, did I mention the food was delicious and very affordable!

I almost hated to leave, but one thing is for sure. There's more I want to see, so I will go back again!
I'll post the rest of the pictures on another post...to be continued.

You've convinced me--I'm heading that way before summer is over! Great pics, too! If I knew how to use this camera I bought, I might get some, too.
